This is a GREAT point & shoot camera!
This is a great camera! I was a little iffy when buying because of some bad reviews I had read when looking to buy. It ended up being a GREAT purchase! It replaced my Kodak C875 that broke. I took this to Orlando when my husband and I went to Disneyworld and we have a wonderful album full of great pictures! I also take alot of outdoor pictures when I see a beautiful sunset or scenery, and I also take alot of pictures of my doggies. This camera captures great colors! There is alot of extras with this camera, all kinds of different functions, just make sure you read the user manual and it will definitely help you better understand the camera. I love the different settings! If you want to take a picture without the flash in a semi-dark room and you want to capture all of the colors that you are seeing, just put the camera on the "food" setting and it captures absolutely GREAT pictures! Pictures that my Kodak was not capable of.I am very happy with my purchase & I will definitely buy a Nikon again!I will be posting a few sample pictures I have taken with this camera.UPDATE!!It has been a little over a year since I got this camera. I still love it & take very good care of it! It still works as good as the day it shipped to my house!! Definitely a GREAT purchase!!

Comes with Exhausted Battery
The battery has no juice left. You can charge it as much as you would like, it will die by the 10th photo you go to take. Otherwise not terrible, but be prepared to buy a new battery.

Poor in low light
I bought the s560 in August and have loved it until recently. I bought it specifically for a trip I was taking out west. I had an older coolpix that I really liked for its ease of use and picture quality, so Nikon was an easy choice. The camera took beautiful pictures of vineyards and mountains and ocean scenes--all on bright sunny days. It wasn't until I tried to take pictures at a friend's wedding that I became disappointed. The mood lighting of the ceremony matched with the measly flash was too much for the camera to handle. All the pictures came out dark despite my close proximity to the altar. Maybe someone with more photography/camera knowledge could monkey with the settings to get a better picture. I tried changing ISO settings to no avail. Other recent indoor events have led to similar dark, disappointing pictures. If you're looking for a great outdoor camera, I would recommend the s560. But, if you want something that does both indoor and outdoor well, I would find something else.

Canon SD1200
The Canon SD1200 is a sleek high powered pocket camera, that can go anywhere and still take great pictures day or night. It's not complicated to operate and yet if you so desire you can use the camera's manual mode. The lens is a Canon, therefore you can rely on it's quality. I've owned a series of other digitals, but I keep going back to the Canon. This is my third purchase in the SD Series and would definitely recommend this or any Canon Camera. The only downside is the 3x Zoom, that should be higher, and that is why I give it a 4.5 out of 5.

Excellent small camera
I got an earlier version of this camera, the S550, to take to England to see crop circles. I have a Nikon D70 which I used to take, but that was a lot of weight in my luggage and hiking around the fields of Wiltshire county.10 megapixels is almost twice the resolution of the D70 (I now have a D90) so I still came home with great photos! I also discovered that I could shoot video of the crop circle I was in by mounting the camera on the end of my walking stick, starting the camera shooting video and raising it up over my head, and once I perfected my aim, I was able to get a video panorama of the formation from about 12' up - awesome!Anyway, good small camera, Nikon quality, high resolution, good price - is that enough for you?BTW, I moved up to the S560 because it now has a micro-USB connector, so you don't have to use the clunky connector that came with the S550. Oh, and image stabilization, which I never pay attention to but probably helps.

Love this camera so much, bought it twice
I originally purchased this camera when it was first released, almost two years ago. It has been the perfect little camera. We went to the beach this year and unfortunately, as I was walking next to the ocean, a huge wave got me - and my little camera. It was completely drowned in a second. When we returned home from the trip, I began searching for this model again. I found it on Amazon of course! I didn't even bother looking at other cameras because I love this one. I ordered it (terrific price), and it was here within a couple of days. Awesome!I adore the color of this camera's case; it's so beautiful to look at. It's easy to hold and shoot, and the large display is fantastic. It shoots gorgeous photos and videos. There are many, many features which I haven't even used yet because you really have to study the manual to know all of them. But even with basic use, this camera does all the work for you. AND it's cute! Since it comes with a battery charger, it's easy to keep it charged, which is nice.I highly recommend this camera - it's a winner!

Not a typical Nikon camera
Wow, what an embarrassment. I got tricked with overall rating of the product, but after using it I can confidently say that this is not a typical Nikon camera. Pic quality is awful especially in low light/nights. Took this camera as a gift and the person never used it!

Looks Cool, but Lacks Substance
As a proud owner of Nikons in the past, I was excited for my new s560 to come in the mail! But, after taking a few pictures I was shocked by the poor quality of the images. The colors were dark, and the images appeared grainy. It's impossible to get good results in low light. I compared pictures with a sony cybershot, and the difference in the images was unbelievable! I'm returning this camera immediately. Perhaps Nikon should stop spending so much money having Ashton Kutcher promote their products, and more money on producing quality cameras!
