Great lava lamp with brilliant colour options, calming effect which is relaxing. Takes a while when first turned on you have to leave it over an hour but once it’s heated up once it’s alright then and heats up quite quickly thereafter. Let’s of a nice light level which isn’t too bright but not too dull either. Amazing value for money and would also make a great gift

We are very happy with this lava lamp, it is a decent size and the colours are fun and bright. The lava was very bubbly to begin with which looked strange but it has settled down over time. It does take a while to heat up so you need to turn it on about an hour before you want to watch it.

A really good lava lamp and great value.Easy to assemble and totally mesmerising to watch! Takes me right back to my Auntie's house in the 70s!!Glad I ordered the red & yellow one for the bedroom as it's like a sunrise & a sunset.If there was a downside it would be that it takes 1.5-2 hours to warm up and work.The soft light comes on immediately but to see the 'lava" bubble, you'll have to be patient.If I want it in the evening, I have to remember to switch it on around 7pm so it gets gets going.Overall, no complaints and it's a great purchase.

I know lava lamps take their time to warm up and get going, I received this yesterday and put it on... 3 hours later and only just started moving, the movement is nowhere near as significant as I expected, just one blob goes up then back to the bottom again.If you choose to get the clear liquid like me, it isn't at all clear, there are bits of dust and particles all floating in the liquid making it look dirty, especially when the lamp is switched on.Day 2 of putting the lamp on, it is burning hot, been switched on for about 2 hours, and still all the liquid is just sitting at the bottom. I bought this for my son who has autism, but it isn't exactly great, he watched it for a couple seconds yesterday when it finally started working and then walked off, I mean 1 blob isnt exactly interesting to watch is it.It also feels extremely unsteady, like it's going to topple over at the smallest movement near it, its given me awful anxiety that he may knock it, or even worse, touch any part of it, I kid you not when I say that thing gets hotter than the oven!I rarely leave reviews, but I am so disappointed as this was for sensory stimulation for my son with autism, and I don't want people in my position to waste their money on this shambles of a product- it may be cheap, but you get what you pay for in this circumstance.I stupidly binned the packaging as I didn't expect this compared to other reviews, so I haven't a clue what to do with the thing, I don't want it!Picture attached is of the lava lamp after been switched on for 2 hours. It's just fire hazard now.

The media could not be loaded. I have received it yesterday and now it is sitting between two of my monitors nicely.just one tip, when you get it the vax will be solid and there is a spring coil i the vax . after leaving it for few hours slowly lift the bottle from the base and look at the coil , make sure it has dropped at the bottom of the bottle or the lava will not rise. very slow tap will do. but do not shake.******************update******************the first one i bought was global gizmo brand and sold and dispatched by amazon which is still working perfectly, later on i bought another one, from same listing but another seller , how ever listed as global gizmo brand i received a different brand ( my bad, just because it is 1 pound cheaper). this one had lighter blue vax and after one month vax separated into two part ( one permanently sunk at the bottom and one floating on the top. seems cheap vax inside . do yourself a favour and buy from amazon as others might be a different cheap brand.

I was really put off by the reviews but thought I’d give it a go and don’t regret it I’ve had this months now and have had no issues at allThe first time you use it it does take a while for everything to melt and after that it’s fine it’s very sturdy I got it for my 6 year old and his never once knocked it over it does get a little warm after a few hours which is to be expected going to purchase another colour for Xmas and hope that one is just as good

Don’t get me wrong, you get what you pay for. The materials aren’t great but it doesn’t detract from the fact this little lamp actually looks great. The only issue I have had was that the wrong bulb was included, big deal. For that price, I can afford to buy new bulbs and from what I’ve read you’re better off with a better quality bulb anyway. Recommend if you’re after a cheaper alternative to Matmos Lava Lamps, but if money is no object and you want a solid lamp then go buy a Matmos one.
