Clean and Simple
These are great bedding for our girls’ nesting boxes. These have a nice thickness so the eggs are always safe and secure with no cracks. It’s super easy to keep our coop clean with these by switching them out every couple months (we have three hens and boxes). I’ve repurchased these twice and will continue.

My hens like them
They are loosely woven and feel a little easy to come apart compared to others I have used but the hens are happy. They are a pretty good system to keep the laying boxes soft, clean, and comfortable.

My hens love these...
And so do I. The hens like them because they can still fluff them up. I like them because they are easy to replace when needed and the hens can't scratch them out of the box when fluffing them. They last a long time. Much easier than cleaning and replacing straw or hay or wood chips or carpet pads or a dozen other things people use. Here is another tip for the home - chicken ranchers out there...in all the time I have had chickens, the best thing I have ever done is to use sand in the coop instead of hay/straw/woodchips, etc. I buy a couple of tons at a time from the rock/concrete industry. It is super inexpensive and keeps the eggs and the hens cleaner than any other medium. The hens love it. They enjoy a good sand bath. A nice thick bed of sand. I wish I had known decades ago. Shoveling soiled bedding is no fun. Using sand in the house and run and using these nesting pads in the hen boxes will make your hobby much easier and more enjoyable.

We love it, but the chickens don't
We have over 16 hens who love to scratch out the straw from their nesting boxes. Sometimes they won't get inside the nesting box, but lay just outside of it. It becomes a literal egg hunt, looking for buried eggs in the pine shavings and trying not to step on them in the coop. Because they lay eggs in the shavings, the eggs also are dirtier and takes us longer to scrub them off with a vinegar wash. With winter here, we noticed that the eggs were also developing fine cracks. We bought the nesting pads after coming across a recommendation from a chicken magazine. We love the nesting pads because it provided enough soft padding for the eggs; they were cleaner and because there was more insulation, they did not freeze and develop those fine cracks. They were also easy to pick up and wave around to get rid of chicken poop. Our chickens, however, don't seem to love them as much as we humans do. They attempted to scratch out the strawlike-material to make their own nests; they obviously don't like all the soft material and prefer the harder surface. Within two or three days, they managed to scratch out all the strawlike material into the coop, leaving only the paper backing in the nesting boxes. This is why I give the product 4 stars; for $20 a 10 pack, it's too pricey to replace every two days. I'd prefer that it was sturdier and less easy for chickens to destroy. In the spring, we plan to put a small board against the nesting boxes so it would be harder for the chickens to scratch out the straw. Maybe then I'll buy the nesting pads again and try again with it.

Good value
Good value. Thickness is fine. No broken eggs.. I tried the plastic ones and the chickens prefer these.

Sassy chicken proof
We have tried a variety of bedding and the ladies end up kicking it out of their box! The results have been the same; a mess all over the coop and broken or cracked eggs. A friend told us about these so we tried them. The ladies can’t scratch these nesting pads out. They last a surprisingly long time before we have to replace the pad (due to poop). Cleaning the egg boxes is easier because you just remove the pad. The pad is a heavy duty paper with chicken approved bedding glued to it. Poop adheres to bedding and bedding comes right out without having to scrape poop from the nest box.My only concern is the cost but after all the wasted money on rejected bedding, time to wasted on cleaning, and having no eggs after they all break; I suppose it’s worth it. We have 6 chickens and 2 nesting boxes. Our chickens tend to use one box more often and we order these about 2 times a year. We haven’t had any broken eggs since.

Keep Eggs Clean
I change these out in the nesting boxes every other month or so . Helps keep the eggs clean , gives the hens a nice cushy nest .

Great product, just very messy
These squares are easy to use, easy to replace when soiled and have the boho appeal being an excellent fire starter (unused, clean squares). Great product, more time should have been spent on keeping the shreds adhered to the backing, The pesky shreds when walked into the home or snagged on clothing are very difficult to remove from the home. The loose shreds cause a long lasting mess inside.
