My New Supplement Journey
I just started taking NOW Foods NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine) supplements this week, so it's too early to report on personal results, but I'm optimistic based on what I've heard! Several of my friends with chronic inflammation issues have been raving about these, calling them "miracle workers" for liver protection and reducing their overall inflammation. The capsules are easy to swallow and I haven't experienced any digestive upset, which was a concern I had when starting any new supplement. The NOW Foods brand has a good reputation for quality, which factored into my decision to try this specific NAC product.I'm taking them consistently as directed and plan to give them the full recommended time to work before making any judgments. My main goals are supporting liver health and addressing some joint inflammation I've been experiencing.I'll definitely come back and update this review in a few weeks once I've had enough time to observe any effects. For now, I'm cautiously optimistic based on the experiences of people I trust!

Potent
The best potency I have found at the cheapest price. My only complaint is the initial taste is not pleasant but it’s tolerable. No stomach upset, and easy to swallow for me, but the pill is a bit big.

OCD and Alcohol Tolerance
I bought this product mainly because of the specific OCD relief people online have claimed it helps. I was obviously very skeptical that a pill could help my OCD, but to my surprise it most definitely has. I will admit I do not take it consistently and regularly as I should, but when I have for a week at a time or so, I notice mental improvements. My mind feels much more at ease and softer on OCD related distractions and issues. I choose to take 2 pills to notice improvements, although I may up it to 2.5 since I have seen that dosage recommended for OCD. I have not noticed any side affects from the NAC either, which is awesome. Keep in mind it will not STOP your OCD, but I do believe it will lessen its mental grasp and allow you to control your thoughts/behaviors with a bit more ease.I also read that if you take NAC before a night out drinking, it will decrease the toxicity your liver and brain will undergo, also preventing hangovers. While I only have tried this once for this specific reason, and honestly drank more than any pill could possibly prevent a hangover, I noticed it DRASTICALLY increased my tolerance. I am a SUPER light weight and infrequent drinker, so I took this largely bc of what people have said online about its potential to increase tolerance. I didn't want to have to leave the bars after 3 drinks and feel totally wasted in a college town with my friends. NAC made me feel like superman in this regard lol. I consumed quite a few mixed drinks and did not feel ANYTHING until I consumed my third drink (normally drunk with 3), I was starting to fear that I wouldn't be able to let loose and enjoy the night with friends if I wasnt going to be able to feel anything. But after finishing the 3rd I felt lightly buzzed, and continuing the night the buzz intensified lol. I also didn't feel a burning sensation in my stomach (always accompanied with drinking) and my head never felt hot or headache-like. I don't think if you took shots it would stop these sensations, but with mixed drinks and beer it did.I never felt like I couldn't control my body or mind while drinking with NAC and that is what was most comforting. My friends were impressed and I held my liquor quite well, danced a ton and felt surprisingly lucid for the amount I consumed. I cant report on the specific scientific rationale behind why this happened, but I'd advise you to take to google and see for yourself.I love NAC and will continue to use it for OCD and before drinking. I will report back and update this review in a few weeks to say how it is going and if it is still holding up to how it has worked so far. I definitely suggest you give it a shot if you have OCD and/or want to prevent the ugly side of drinking from ruining your nights out. :)

Great Supplement, Works Well
I’ve been using NOW Foods NAC (N-Acetyl-Cysteine) for a few weeks now, and so far, I’m quite pleased with the results. It’s a high-quality supplement from a trusted brand, and I’ve noticed some positive effects on my overall health, especially with improved respiratory support and liver function. The dosage is easy to manage, and the capsules are a good size. I appreciate the clean ingredients and the fact that it’s a trusted, reliable brand. However, I’m holding back from giving a 5-star rating, as it’s still a bit early to fully evaluate the long-term benefits.Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for NAC supplementation, but time will tell if the results are as lasting as I hope.

Taken for Alzheimer’s
My spouse has Alzheimer’s disease and has been in various drug trials at a well respected Houston hospital. In 2020, the first drug trial we participated in used a combination of NAC and Glycine at very high doses. (100mg each per kilo of body weight). This combination makes Glutathione, and the trial was to determine any positive effects of high doses of the two drugs in combination, on Alzheimer’s.The trial duration was for 6 months, mainly to test for tolerance, and there were no adverse effects on us. I understand that this trial is still ongoing. The main points I want to share are:The trial used very high doses of both drugs for Alzheimer’s. I wouldn’t suggest doing this without a physician’s approval and oversight. The drug trial physicians could not find a pure enough formulation of either drug commercially, so had to formulate their own, so be sure that you trust your source. The strong smell of NAC is a characteristic of the drug, and the stronger the purer. This is the sign of purity. The ones in the drug trial had a very strong odor.To ensure the safety and quality of any supplement, look for an independent third-party seal on the label, such as U.S. Pharmacopeia, NSF International, GMP or ConsumerLab.I think it’s noteworthy that the study used the two supplements separately, but taken at the same time, instead of a Glutathione pill. While our portion of the trial is over, we have continued to take both drugs together at the 1gm of each twice per day, and while it’s impossible to determine the effectiveness of these two drugs when combined, we are determined to continue the process.
