Really pleased with this at first as I managed to record some good stuff with it and the plug and play natire makes it very good for people who ren't the most adept at recording set-ups, but in terms of quality the actual unit itself is quite lightweight and overheats if left on for prolonged periods (which is normal during studio use).it is now leaving a hissing sound on all the recordings I make so a mere few monts after purchase i've run into a major problem with this item. The Headphones arent the best either, one of the phones had noticeably lost sound output for some reason so they can't be that great quality (they don't insulate sound particularly well when you're using them either). If you can find one of these sets for half the price it's advertised here, buy, otherwise avoid.

Great on a budget easy setup
Just got back into producing after a 2 year gap. Decided not to go down the traditional laptop / DAW route and instead utilise the power of my iPad Air 2 and the raft of incredible apps now being produced. Opted for the itrack as I wanted a compact and study workstation set up.After plugging in mic and midi keyboard (EMU early model) I was immediately sampling into beatmaker 3, playing synths and monitoring with hardly any additional setup - so impressed. Apart from selecting audio inputs in beatmaker it works straight out the box. Pair with beatmaker and it’s like having a touchscreen MPC without the financial outlay. Already set up a mini mixer to sample from my phone, external synths and vinyl. Love it.

Great for guitar and vocals with a simple layout.
As a hobbyist singer/songwriter who likes to record and share my efforts to Soundcloud etc, I had become very weary of my various digital multi trackers, finding the complicated use of them coupled with PC based DAWs a hindrance rather than a help with my hobby. I had tried to use such as Garageband on my Ipad before, yet not really had much luck with say plugging a guitar in to it. This dock I find the perfect compromise for all I need. I can now choose which ever recording or effects app I want to use, such as Amplitude (an effects and amplifier simulator app) and just plug straight into it via the various line ins on the dock. I find it so easy now.I mainly use it with Garageband for recording, and that it fits all my needs and more, along with Audiobus if I want to include any other music apps in the chain. The dock itself does not have too many knobs and buttons on the front of it, to complicate matters, and leaves you only to understand and learn your chosen recording app, and for me this is one of the main plus points of it, you can go as simple (with such as the two track free app 'Tape') or as complicated as you want, something my old digital recorders wouldn't allow. With the amount of recording apps out there, ranging from Garageband to more full scale DAWs such as Auria, your spoiled for choice.

Very limited midi compatibility.
I’ve got 3 USB midi keyboards, 2 Korg and 1 AKAI and none of these work with the USB input, so if you ever buy one of these and you want to use midi, try to find out which controllers work first (if any). Good luck finding out because Focus Rite don’t seem too keen on publishing the info on their website so I’m assuming that there are very few that are compatible, and I’m not going to randomly buy more controllers on the off chance I’ll find one that works. Maybe that’s the reason why they stopped making these.Luckily one of my Korg keyboards is a NanoKey Studio which is Bluetooth, so I’ve got round the problem.

Not for mere mortals...
I've had this for approximately 3 months and I'm still struggling to get it to do what I want...record an electric guitar, bass, drums...you know, like record some of our songs etc. I've seen the YouTube videos and read the instructions several times but with little or no joy. I think if you are technically minded and have worked in the music recording field you will find this a great asset...for mere mortals such as myself....well, frustration comes to mind (and the product support take an age to reply and even then it's nothing to do with the question...so then you have to write again...and so on.).

First impressions
After struggling with an iPad 2 and Alesis io dock that was noisy or just wouldn't work for 2 years I decided to bite the bullet and buy the focusrite kit and ipad air 2. I'm glad I did. it worked straight out of the box. For 2 years I thought it was me that was wrong. The Focusrite is not perfect. It feels flimsy and physically the Alesis dock is far and away the better dock holding the ipad in a robust frame. The ipad with focusrite sits on a slot and is held in place with a connector. Will need to be very careful not to bump it ot let guitar leads drag it on the floor which would be disastrous. There is also no real manual in the box. i didn't have internet where i was so it was suck it and see but it all worked.it's expensive to.okay so we've got the negative out of the way what do I think?Well It works and sounds great out of the box and does what its supposed to do.If it got nicked I'd order another straight away

Check for compatability before you buy (wish I had)
this turned out to be more expensive than I thought it would, as the number of keyboards it will work with is limited to keyboards that are MIDI USB compliant. My Roland A-800 PRO MIDI USB wouldn't work with it no matter what I tried, even when I removed the ADVANCED USB feature. If anyone Know howto get it working please let me know. It works great with my new Novation Impulse 25 though. I am very happy with the setup though now. But I find 25 keys limiting and would prefer the 61 keys on my Roland.

Not an iPad supported accessory
Plugged this up the day it arrived and it all worked. The next day my ios10 iPad decided that the itrack was an unsupported accessory and refused to connect. Gave up and returned to Amazon for refund.
