Delighted!
It is IMPOSSIBLE to get any exotic fruit or vegetables where I live and one thing I miss are plantain and karela - bitter gourd. I was shocked to find them on amazon!!So, ordered yesterday - dispatch note stated delivery next Friday (I was concerned about ending up with a plantain smoothie by that time...!)However, they arrived TODAY!The plantains are all firm, fairly large, and I'm looking forward to frying up a couple for breakfast with clotted cream! I'm not too concerned about the skin colour - I ordered 10, some to share with my neighbour who always shares theirs with me!I paid over £12.00 which really isn't bad for 10, with next day delivery - bravo and huge THANK YOU to the seller!

RIPE PLAINTAIN (Pack of 10)
Action, they say speak louder than words but in this case ‘PICTURES’ certainly speak louder. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! purchase by moi; yours truly a ‘Plantain’ lover/addict 😋😛 ordered from the equally awesome seller. You sure have a loyal customer in me for as long as this high standard remain in your trade service. Can’t thank my superfab AMAZON as well for a wide eclectic & tropical selection of any thing any individual wants or wishes to purchase. (Praises over, now review on the Plantain)Plantain comes in a box of 10. It is absolutely fresh and excellently riped, although I had 2 which were over-ripe for me, 8 out 10 is not bad at all. It tasted delicious and I highly recommend.*note this isn’t to be mixed up with ‘Bananas’ for those unfamiliar, it is a sweet staple dish in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and some other countries. Can be fried, boiled or roasted. I prefer to fry (as am a sweet tooth....lolzz) and have it with egg, stew or my favourite ‘PARRI’ JOLLOF RICE. I consider it a vegetable and not a fruit. You may also wish to purchase the unripe green ones. Good price too. Packaging and delivery were superb. Thanks to Amazon and the seller ‘Blue Mountain Peak | Afro-Caribbean Food Store’.

Perfectly ripe West-Indian-style (i.e. soft & sweet with mostly black skin)
The plantains arrived nicely packed and perfectly ripe. It is obvious that the negative reviewers on here have no idea how we eat plantains in the West Indies. We eat plantains as a vegetable, not a fruit. A green plantain has a much higher starch content than a green banana, and is therefore perfect for baking in the skin until soft, then eaten like (mashed) potato; or for slicing into thin rounds and frying/baking until crisp, then eaten like potato crisps. A ripe plantain, on the other hand, needs to be ripened until it is soft and sweet, at which point the skin will be mostly or completely black. It is then sliced thinly lengthwise and fried until it has turned golden brown and has firmed up slightly. To make it even more delicious, brush the slices with (melted) coconut oil, dredge in brown sugar (1/4 cup / 60 ml) mixed with cinnamon (2 tsp / 10 ml), nutmeg (1/2 tsp / 2 ml) & a pinch of salt. Then place on a greased baking sheet and bake for 15 mins in a moderate oven (350 F / 180 C) until golden brown.
