This Carote utensil set is a perfect starter set for anyone. It has everything you need. The tools are made well and work as intended. The knives are very sharp. Yes, I did accidentally cut myself with a knife. All the utensils are comfortable to hold. The only thing is that the utensil holder is small. It fits all the tools but it's quite a tight fit. Great if you have limited counter space. The knives are protected in the holder and are secure. The holder looks modern and sleek. It's as pictured in the listing and the neutral color accommodates almost any decor. It's everything you expect from a higher end brand like Carote. Perfect gift for a wedding shower or housewarming gift. Makes a great gift for a new college student too.

The wood handles are very smooth--no splintering. I like that all the accessories have a hole for hanging just in case you want to hang them. I like the holder a lot because 1) there is flexibility in the general compartment areas to throw in other items and 2) you have a lot of extra knife slots to throw in your own favorite knives and 3) this has a super compact footprint for the amount it can hold (especially compared to the old style wood blocks). Everything seems to be of good quality! This is great for anyone opening up a new apartment like a college student or new couple as well. Since you can keep everything on the counter with this --you can probably cook a bit faster instead of having to open drawers and search for frequently used items.

The CAROTE 13Pcs Kitchen Utensills Set with 360° Rotating Knife Block is attractive and holds many utensils. The first thing I noticed when I opened the package and removed the utensils was a strong chemical smell. I spent quite a bit of time washing the utensils to get the smell out and initially they still smelled even after washing. The next day, after removing the washed utensils out of the drying rack the smell was gone. I did not like that the caddy itself is not really washable in an easy way. I took out the knife block part and try to reach my hand down to wash the caddy insides with a damp soapy towel. The openings are very narrow. I would not use a dish brush and water however because the bottom is secured with metal screws and has non removable layers for weighing it down, to anchor it on the counter. I felt that I couldn't use a dish brush or a bottle brush for instance because it may damage the caddy because of how it was constructed. I did not feel comfortable getting the bottom completely wet because it seems like it would not dry well and leave a mildew issue. So I ended up doing the best I could with washing it. There was some dusty plastic residue in the caddy from manufacturing so my first impulse to wash it turned out to be the correct one. I wish this caddy was easier to wash. The knives work fine. I have been hesitant using the utensils as they came with such a heavy chemical smell initially. I got this caddy as I have a Carote pan that I love and use often. I have some reservations about this set. It is neat and compliments my counter. The caddy is sturdy and seems like it won't tip. A stable caddy is important when you have one hand available, quickly grabbing for utensils, while cooking.Overall, I have a mixed opinion on this caddy. I don't like that it doesn't seem suited to getting wet or the chemical smell on the utensils. I do like how attractive it is, it seems well built, the knives work well, and the wooden handle utensils are very attractive.
